Okomi is a Japanese learning app. This says what it keeps, why it keeps it, and how to make it stop — in the words the code actually uses, because a policy that describes a different product than the one you installed is worse than none.

What we keep

• Your email address and a hashed password, so you can sign in from more than one device. If you start as a guest, there is no email until you choose to add one.
• What you have learned. Which words and characters you have met, how well you remember each one, which conversations you have finished, and the name you asked Aria to call you. This is the app; without it there is nothing to come back to.
• Which features you use. A short list of events tied to your account — you finished onboarding, you started a conversation, you finished one, you reached the part that is paid, you spoke out loud for the first time. Counts and identifiers only. Never what you typed or said.
• Audio, while a spoken turn is happening. If you speak to Aria, the recording goes to a speech-to-text provider so the app can tell what you said, and to a text-to-speech provider so it can answer. We do not keep the recording.

What we do not keep

• No advertising identifiers, and no advertising.
• No third-party analytics or tracking SDK. The events above are written to our own database and go nowhere else.
• No cookies beyond the one thing that keeps you signed in, which is why there is no consent banner to dismiss.
• Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for anyone else's marketing.

Who else sees it

The app runs on hosting we rent, with a database we control. Two services process content on our behalf while you use them: a speech provider (when you speak or ask to hear a line) and a language model (when Aria replies in a live conversation). They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use anything for their own purposes.

How long

Your learning data lasts as long as your account. Feature-usage events are kept for up to twelve months and then only in aggregate — numbers with nobody attached.

Deleting all of it

In the app: You → Delete my account. It erases the account, everything you have learned, and the usage events, and it cannot be undone. There is nobody to email and nothing to wait for — if any part of the erasure fails, the app tells you so rather than reporting it done.

Children

Okomi is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep data about them.
